Two members of the Kennington Bethlehem Link were pleased to attend the annual BPFTN conference in Birmingham this weekend.
The Britain Palestine Friendship and Twinning Network held its annual conference in the CWU headquarters in Birmingham. As group members from all over the country gathered in the Midland we welcomed members of newly-formed groups from Preston, Southampton, Blackburn and Weston-super-Mare.
We heard from a number of speakers, including Mazin Qumsiyeh from Bethlehem University and Husam Zumlot, Palestine’s Ambassador to the UK. Mr Zumlot gave a passionate presentation, saying that he was encouraged by new twinning networks springing up in the UK. He called on the UK to ‘lead not follow’ on the issue of recognising the State of Palestine.
