Kennington School Forms Link with Dar Al Kalima

On our recent tour of Palestine Kennington’s Archbishop Sumner School formed a link with the Dar Al Kalima school in Bethlehem.

The group met with Head Teacher Tony Nassar, who spoke of his hope for peace for the Palestinian people. The Lutheran school, which is 70% muslim, has 393 students, nearly 40 of whom live in the nearby Dheisheh Refugee Camp.

Sarah Hopkins, who teaches at Archbishop Sumner in Kennington spent the next day at Dar Al Kalima and will set up Skype exchanges between the two schools. That would be an excellent opportunity for the young Bethlehemites to practice the English they have been learning since Kindergarten.
